Obituary for Dean Dover

Dean “Shorty” Dover, 79 of Gaffney passed away at Gaffney Medical Center on Wednesday April 2, 2014.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 pm Friday April 4, 2014 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel.

A service of remembrance will be held 3:00pm Saturday April 5, 2014 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Dover was born October 9, 1934 to the late Jessie William and Carrie Inez Whelchel Dover. Shorty retired after 25 years of service as a Maintenance Mechanic at Timken. A proud veteran, he served his country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his siblings; Edward L. Dover, Carl W. Dover, Bobby D. Dover, Mildred L. Bonds, and Phyllis A. Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Sue Campbell Dover, three sons; Charlie Ray Dover, Barry Wayne Dover, Terry Dean Dover, three grandchildren; Chris R.J. Dover, Nikki S. Dover, Ginger R. Dover and two great-grandchildren; Caleb Gauge Sizemore and Zoey Renee Andrews.
